Why do we ride?
Why do we invest so much into something where the return is often non-existent? What drives our extreme time and energy contribution? Even though they may cause us frustration, tears, heartache, and even occasional impairment, the passion never falters. Non-horse people think we are all crazy and, let's face it, we just might be! This is one of the most cognitively and physically challenging sports on the planet; nevertheless, in my oh so humble opinion, the most rewarding. The unparalleled and indescribable exhilaration that surfaces when you finally garner that lone goal or attain oneness as rider and equine partner is second to none. We climb on 1,000+ pound unpredictable animals with unparalleled fervor. We do this all for the deep, trusting, and interwoven relationship that is horse and rider. Such an animal could so effortlessly exact its will over us at any turn, and yet instead, they carry us around on their backs and perform unnatural feats just because we ask them to..
My Bridleway
Where to start? Perhaps on the horse farm in Western Pennsylvania where I grew up. Both of my parents were trainers and my father is still a semi-retired blacksmith and trainer to this day. Here I learned the fundamentals and standards of respect and am still drawn back to this place when the occasion permits. Subsequently, life brought me to a Hunter/Jumper farm in Southeast Michigan where I [something something dark side] and here I eventually began my professional career. Since then, I have consulted and trained at various facilities throughout Southeastern Michigan gaining the litany of requisites that enable my success in circumnavigating your training needs and goals. This is my perpetual path of information sharing and acquisition.
